Partridge pea is a native short-lived wildflower with attractive foliage and bright yellow flowers. Native to scrub, sandhill, flatwoods, beach dunes and disturbed areas in Florida, Partridge Pea does well in dry sandy environments. It appeals to a number of different pollinators such as long-tongued bees and butterflies such as the cloudless sulfer, gray hairstreak, and more!

  • Native perennial reseeding wildflower; 3’ x 3’

  • Full sun to partial shade; very dry, well-drained, sandy soils

  • Use in erosion control; tolerates indirect salt spray

  • Yellow flowers in late spring through fall

  • Larval host plant for many caterpillars; attracts butterflies, bees, and other pollinators; birds and other wildlife eat the seeds
